Lat September through Kildare County Council’s Local Enterprise Office, entrepreneurial secondary school students began their business journey as they were encouraged to research, set-up and run their own real-world businesses.
An estimated over 1,500 students from 21 secondary schools across Kildare took part the annual programme. The students all took part in the Kildare Final on Thursday 5th of March which was held at the Killashee Hotel.

Kildare has a successful record in the Student Enterprise competition, with students from St.Mary’s College in Naas winning Overall Third Place in the Senior Category at the National Finals in Croke Park last year and Kilcock students winning an award at the National Finals in 2017.
Speaking at the county final, Doreen Heavey, Programme Co-ordinator congratulated the students, saying;
“We have a very successful student enterprise programme here in Kildare with over 1,500 students from 21 local schools taking part this year. Our national finalists are excellent ambassadors for the programme and we wish them the very best of luck in Croke Park on May 1st”
She continued “What our students are learning from the programme is that with the right supports and encouragement, they can take an idea from the classroom and develop it into a real-life business. The skills they learn along the way, such as business planning, market research, selling and team-work, will help them become more entrepreneurial throughout their future careers”.
